PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (January 25, 1999 - Samoa News)--American Samoa's Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives, Eni Faleomavaega, last week was unanimously elected by Democratic Party Congressmen to the position of Senior Democrat on the House Subcommittee on Fisheries Conservation, Wildlife and Oceans. In a Samoa News telephone interview from Washington D.C., Congressman Faleomavaega said "I am very happy to receive this important post that will be beneficial for American Samoa and our cousins in the region.

"One of the reasons this move is important to our office and the people of American Samoa," he added, "is because this is a chance to really monitor fishery issues that effect us."

As his second subcommittee seat within the Committee on Resources, Faleomavaega chose the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources.
