FISH POISONING IN COOK ISLANDS

RAROTONGA, Cook Islands (February 17, 1999 - PACNEWS)---As a result of another serious case of fish poisoning, health authorities in the Cook Islands have issued warnings to the people of Rarotonga and the surrounding islands about the dangers associated with eating reef fish.

So far about fifty people have fallen victim during the current spate of fish poisonings.

The Director of the Cook Islands main hospital at Rarotonga, Dr. Metua Tauraii, has warned residents to clean and check fish thoroughly before eating them.
