APIA, Samoa (April 21, 1999 - Radio Australia)---A senior member of the Congregational Church in Samoa has urged other churches in the Pacific to promote the use of condoms to help prevent the spread of AIDS.

As concern grows throughout the Pacific about the increasing rate of HIV/AIDS, the Reverend Lotu Uele says the issue needs to be talked about in the community, even though others may not agree.

"I think the best prevention is restricting to one partner. That is the best way," he said, "But. . . if they can't restrict themselves to one partner, no reason to stop using condoms."
