FORMER FIJI PRIME MINISTER CALLS FOR SUPPORT OF CONSTITUTION

NADI, Fiji Islands (May 31, 1999 - Radio Australia)---Former Prime Minister of Fiji Sitiveni Rabuka says the people of Fiji must allow the Constitution to work following the election of a new Government.

Rabuka made the comment at the opening of the 16th Pan Pacific Business Association Conference, underway in Nadi.

It was his first public address since the defeat of his Government in the country's recent polls.

Rabuka said all Fijians must show tolerance and dedicate themselves to the peaceful progress of the Islands by cooperating for the greater good of the nation.
