WALLIS AND FUTUNA SPELLING CONTEST IN WALLISIAN LANGUAGE

MATA‘UTU, Wallis and Futuna (June 17, 1999 - PINA Nius Online)---Students from all three secondary schools in the French Territory of Wallis and Futuna took part Wednesday in a spelling competition in the Wallisian language, RFO radio reported here Thursday.

The contest, which marks the end of the first half of the current school year, was organized by a private company, the "Treasure Island" library.

As a prize, the student winner will travel to New Caledonia.

The contest is expected to take place again at the end of the school year, and, at that time, may be open to the general public, RFO reports.
