HONOLULU, Hawai‘i (June 22, 1999 - PIDP/CPIS/Hulsen)---The Tuvalu Philatelic Bureau has issued a special set of overprinted postage stamps for use in raising funds to help Kosovar refugees affected by the civil war in Yugoslavia.

The government agency reported that 28,000 of the sets would be produced.

Previously released commemorative Tuvalu bird stamps, ranging in value from 20 cents to one dollar, are being used in the assistance project.

Tuvalu Online noted that 50 percent of the sales price of each stamp set, which went on sale earlier this month, would be donated to a humanitarian organization for use in assisting the Kosovars.
