I wanted to drop a line to say thank you for the daily reports about the Solomon Islands in the Honolulu Advertiser.

Each morning, I clip the column and hand it off to someone making the 40-mile drive from my house to Anahola (on the Hawaiian island of Kaua‘i) where a group of a dozen carvers and weavers from Taumako, Solomon Islands, are building a small sailing canoe in a cultural exchange. They have a translator and are eager for the news from home.
