HONIARA, Solomon Islands (July 6, 1999 - Radio Australia)---The Solomon Islands Government is likely to dissolve one of the country's nine provincial governments.

Provincial Government Minister Japhet Waipora has indicated that he has been considering dissolving the Rennell-Bellona provincial government because it has failed to hold meetings for two years.

Mr. Waipora said he has written to the province's Premier, Ajalan Nasiu, to find out if there is any reason why the government should remain.

A Radio Australia correspondent in Honiara said the Rennell-Bellona provincial government has not convened meetings because it has been unable to agree on agenda items.
