PORT VILA, Vanuatu (July 30, 1999 – PACNEWS/RNZI)---Ni-Vanuatu citizens resident in New Caledonia now will vote for representatives in Vanuatu’s Parliament by casting their ballots with those voting in the Port Vila constituency.

Previously, their votes were divided, as they voted based on their Vanuatu island or constituency of origin.

With all voters in New Caledonia now casting votes in a single constituency, they will have a major impact on the selection of the six parliamentarians elected from Port Vila, the capital.
