HAGÅTÑA, Guam (August 16, 1999 – KUAM News)---Although it has been under discussion for several years, the General Manager of the Guam Telephone Authority, Vince Arriola, says the ball finally is rolling on the privatization of GTA.

Come mid-September, under the supervision and assistance of the Guam Election Commission, an election for a coordinating committee to further GTA's privatization process will be held.

Arriola says GTA has looked to the privatizing of the Agency in order to remain competitive and to continue bringing in capital into the Territory.

With the privatization of GTA, Arriola says there won't be a loss of jobs, but more openings and job opportunities.

Several private companies have expressed an interest in taking over GTA, but have not come forward with any unsolicited proposals.
