AUCKLAND, New Zealand (September 13, 1999 – Radio Australia)---Papua New Guinea has ordered a delegate to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum to leave New Zealand after he made inappropriate comments to a female hotel worker.

Officials said the City Life Hotel in Auckland informed the government, and New Zealand diplomats related the incident to senior members of the Papua New Guinea delegation.

They then ordered the diplomat to leave New Zealand.

Officials with the police and New Zealand Foreign Ministry and organisers of the APEC conference all declined to name the official or provide details about the comments made.

The officials said neither the hotel nor the woman involved filed a formal complaint with the police or government.
