PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (September 19, 1999 – Honolulu Advertiser)---A bill introduced in the American Samoa House of Representatives calls for the death penalty to be carried out by electrocution.

Rep. Muavaefaatasi Ae Ae, Jr. introduced the bill five days after the House rejected one calling for the use of lethal injections.

If his latest bill fails to pass, he said he will introduce a measure to eliminate the death penalty.

Territorial law allows for the death penalty for first-degree murder but does not say how it should be carried out.
