NOUMEA, New Caledonia (Sept. 22, 1999 - PINA Nius Online)---Bernheim Library in Noumea is gearing up for a first in the French territory, an Australian art exhibition, RFO-radio reports.

The exhibition, which is scheduled to begin October 10, involves Australian writers, painters and sculptors. Musical shows and Australia films also will be staged, organizer and Bernheim head Jean-François Carescoral said.

"There is a strong accent on literature, because, obviously, we're a library, so we're inviting four Australian writers."

"But there will also be over fifteen Australian movies and an open air musical show."

Later in the year, the exhibition is expected to move from Noumea to Hienghène (east coast of New Caledonia).
