Dr .Christian Jost is Senior Lecturer in Geography and Development, Laboratory GECO Geosystemes, Environments et Cartomatique Océaniéns, Univérsité de Nouvelle-Calédonie, and the editor of The French-Speaking Pacific: Population, Environment and Development Issues (1999), an in-depth presentation of Vanuatu, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, and Wallis and Futuna, with analyses of their natural, sociocultural, and economic environments.
