TARAWA, Kiribati (November 23, 1999 – Radio Australia)---The Kiribati Parliament began its final meeting of the year today with approval of a supplementary appropriations bill to cover additional government expenditures through the end of the year.

A sum of $5.7 million dollars already has been withdrawn from the Consolidated Fund, a special fund for all surplus government revenue.

The largest additional expenditures have been approved for outer islands development, totaling more than $3 million, and the Ministry of Health, totaling more than $1 million.

The current Kiribati Parliament session is expected to continue for three to four weeks.
