PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (December 7, 1999 – Radio Australia)---Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta wants to see an increase in business and trade between his country and neighboring Indonesia.

Sir Mekere made his intentions known as government officials from both countries gathered for a Joint Border Committee meeting in Port Moresby.

Sir Mekere said despite the fact that bilateral relations between the two countries have existed for more than 25 years, business activities have not grown.

He said he would encourage officials to look at the possibility of the two nations entering into joint venture investments to take advantage of the geographic closeness of the two nations.
