ALOFI, Niue (January 2, 2000 – Radio Australia)---Shipping officials have announced plans to introduce a new custom built cargo ship next March, in efforts to improve service between Niue and Auckland (New Zealand) Avarua (Rarotonga, Cook Islands) and Nuku‘alofa (Tonga).

A report from Niue Reef Shipping said the new cargo vessel is capable of holding 500 containers, including refrigerated cargo.

The vessel is expected to replace Reef Shipping's MV Hima and MV Southern Cross.
