HONIARA, Solomon Islands (January 13, 2000 – Radio Australia)---Germany has offered to help the Solomon Islands make its reform program more successful, by attracting increased foreign investments and promoting growth.

The pledge was made by Germany's new Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, Dr. Horst Bachmann, while presenting his credentials to Solomon Islands Governor General Sir John Ini Lapli in Honiara.

Dr. Bachmann said, as a major contributor to the European Union, Germany would be proud to support the Solomon Islands trade goals through the Lomé Convention.

Sir John urged Dr. Bachmann to assure Germany's continued support for a new partnership between the European Union and the ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific countries) after the expiry of the Lomé IV agreement next month.
