NOUMEA, New Caledonia (February 22, 2000)---The imminent arrival of an Airbus A310 for Air Caledonie International (ACI) should improve air service between New Caledonia and the United States and increase tourism.

ACI and New Caledonia Tourism intend to develop new flight schedules in collaboration with French Polynesia, to urge U.S. tourists to continue their travels from Tahiti and Her Islands to New Caledonia.

Both companies, in association with Air France and Maison de France USA, earlier organized four seminars with 300 travel agents from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Denver to promote France’s Pacific territories as vacation destinations.

About 600,000 Americans visit the South Pacific every year.
