PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (February 22, 2000 – Samoa Observer)---The Government of American Samoa has set aside a whole week to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of when the United States of America assumed control over the administration of American Samoa (April 17, 1900).

In that connection, the Governor of American Samoa, Hon. Tauese P. Sunia, has officially invited His Highness the Head of State, Susuga Malietoa Tanumafili II, and the Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, to be the Official guests at the commemoration of American Samoa's Flag Day, scheduled for the 17th to the 21st of April this year.

The villages of Sagone, Saleilua, Fasitootai, Lotofaga, Vaitoomuli in Palauli and Saluafata, have been invited to provide traditional entertainment during the weeklong celebrations. In addition three long boats (fautasi) and the Ia Ole Vai, a women's cricket team from Tanugamanono, also received special invitations.

The two Samoas have in the past invited each other during their separate Flag Day celebrations.
