NUKU‘ALOFA, Tonga (March 14, 2000 – Radio Australia)---Tonga's Ministry of Agriculture reports that damage to the kingdom’s crops from Tropical Cyclone Mona last week exceeded $4 million.

However, the Ministry said Tonga will not need international food aid.

Radio Tonga announced that bananas, breadfruit and cassava were the main crops affected by last week's cyclone.

The Tongatapu islands were the worst affected by the passing cyclone with damage estimated at $2 million.

A report from the Tonga Electric Power Board said about 90 percent of the electric power lines damaged during the cyclone already have been repaired.
