HAGÅTÑA, Guam (May 22, 2000 – Radio Australia)---The Olympic torch has begun its tour of the Pacific.

Early this morning the flame arrived in Guam to much local excitement and international media interest.

Guam is the first of 13 Pacific countries that will host the torch before it reaches Australia on June 8th.

Guam National Olympic Committee President Ric Blas said it will be a big day for the island.

"We start our torch relay at approximately eleven o'clock in the morning and (we will) conclude the run at about six o'clock in the evening.

"An hour later they'll shut the flames off and then, from there, within three hours after the flame has been extinguished, it then flies to. . .Palau," Blas said.
