FIJI'S MILITARY CONSIDERS LIFTING CURFEW

SUVA, Fiji Islands (June 18, 2000 – Radio Australia)---Fiji's military government says it is considering lifting the curfew imposed in areas around the capital, Suva.

Most of Fiji has been under an 8:00 p.m.-to-5:00 a.m. curfew since the military declared martial law late last month.

The curfew in the north and western regions was lifted last week.

However, a military spokesman says the security situation appears to have improved enough that the curfew could now be lifted in areas closer to the capital.
