PORT VILA, Vanuatu (July 5, 2000 -- Vanuatu Weekly/PINA Nius Online)---The increasing civil unrest worldwide is also affecting Vanuatu, with the government in high demand to provide military personnel.

Around 60 people are needed urgently, with the government committing itself to assist the United Nations with a peace keeping.

The Joint Police Command Chief of Staff told Vanuatu Weekly that new recruits are urgently needed to serve in UN missions.

Joint Police Headquarters is sending out application forms for interested people between the ages of 18 and 30 years to apply no later than the 14th of this month.

Interested applicants should have at least completed the year 10 level of education.

People of military background, including former members of the force who either resigned or were made redundant, are encouraged to re-apply.

Mr. Ben said that members who were terminated and have cases pending before the court will not be accepted.
