NEWS RELEASE October 26, 2000

THE LEWIS VS. TUA ROYAL HEAVYWEIGHT RAMPAGE

Congressman Eni Faleomavaega announced today that Samoa News has been granted a reserved shooting position at the Mandalay Bay Events Center to photograph the upcoming Lewis vs. Tua Royal Heavyweight Rampage.

Photojournalist Barry Markowitz has been assigned to cover the event.

"This is an historic moment for Samoa News," Congressman Faleomavaega said.

"Photo positions are extremely limited at these events and newspapers and photojournalists from around the world compete for reserved locations.

"Samoa News has been granted access to shoot the fight and obtain close-up pictures of everything from David Tua’s work-out to his weigh-in," he said.

Mandalay Bay will also provide Samoa News with action photography of the fight, including publication rights.

"Fight Week Media Coverage will begin on Monday November 6th and continue through Saturday November 11th. The main bout is expected to begin between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m.

"During Fight Week, Samoa News will have access to the open workouts of both David Tua and Lennox Lewis," Congressman Faleomavaega said. "Samoa News will also be able to obtain close-up pictures of the post-fight. Simply put, Samoa News will be able to provide our people with full media coverage.

"I want to thank Magna Media International for making this event more accessible to the people of American Samoa," Congressman Faleomavaega said. "I also want to thank Mr. Lewis Wolman, publisher of Samoa News, for bringing this matter to my attention. I firmly believe that our people deserve access to all aspects of this fight and I’m just glad that we were able to work together to make it happen.

"I’m still humbly predicting that David Tua will be the next heavyweight boxing champion of the world," Congressman Faleomavaega said. "And for the record, I’ll be wearing my ula fala every day during Fight Week to show my support."
