HONIARA, Solomon Islands (November 7, 2000 - Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation/PINA Nius Online)---Members of the Melanesian Brotherhood of the Church of Melanesia will no longer provide security for premises in and around Honiara.

The decision was reached by the head of the Melanesian Brotherhood, Archbishop Sir Ellison Pogo, and superiors of the Brotherhood.

During the height of the ethnic tension, members of the brotherhood were extensively involved in looking after the properties of individuals and companies in the capital.

Sir Ellison said the change results from the signing of the Townsville Peace Agreement.

Such responsibilities will now be returned to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.

Meantime, members of the International Peace Monitoring Team are expected to arrive in Honiara on November 15.
