TWO TOP FIJI MILITARY OFFICERS UNDER HOUSE ARREST

SUVA, Fiji Islands (November 8, 2000 – ABC Australia)---Two of Fiji's top military officers have been placed under house arrest and ordered not to leave the country while an investigation into last Thursday's failed mutiny gets under way.

Former military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Filipo Tarakinikini and Colonel Ulaiafi Vatu will need to advise the military of their movements at all times.

The mutiny left eight soldiers dead and more than 30, including civilians, injured.
