TARAWA, Kiribati (November 12, 2000 - Radio Kiribati/PINA Nius Online)---Three fishermen who were lost at sea during a fishing trip and not heard from since early last month were rescued by a Taiwanese fishing boat on October 26, it has been reported.

They are Teraaka Bwaoro, Tebwe Tenou and Kaareta Kaabeia.

The Acting Director of the Marine Division, Itinuaa Teitiaki, said the fishermen were taken by the fishing boat to Majuro in the Marshall Islands.

Senior Assistant Secretary, Foreign Affairs Reeteta Nikuata told Radio Kiribati News that the Kiribati government has already paid for air tickets to permit the fishermen to return to Tarawa from Majuro.

It is still unclear what happened to the fishermen, causing them to be lost at sea.

They are expected to return to Tarawa this week.
