TARAWA, Kiribati (November 16, 2000 - Radio Kiribati/PINA Nius Online)---Betio's Member of Parliament, Teiraoi Tetabea, says people are concern over more live ammunition being found at the western end of the islet.

It is believed to have remained there since the World War II Battle of Tarawa, between U.S. and Japanese forces

Teiraoi said five live shells, each about a foot long, recently were found by Betio residents digging near an old Japanese gun emplacement.

Officials confirmed that the ammunition was safely detonated at sea by a police bomb expert.
