WESTERN PACIFIC NAVIES MEET ON MEASURES TO COUNTER SEA MINES

SINGAPORE (November 29, 2000 – Radio Australia)---Singapore's Ministry of Defense says 17 member countries from the Western Pacific Naval Symposium have gathered for the three-day seminar.

The Ministry says the seminar has been organized to promote regional cooperation and professional interaction among the Western Pacific Symposium navies.

Those attending include representatives from Australia, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, the United States and Vietnam.

The first seminar was held last year in Australia.
