MAJURO, Marshall Islands (November 24, 2000 – Marshall Islands Journal)---The Asian Development Bank is very pleased with progress at Ebeye involving a $9 million ADB loan.

ADB program officer Tilak Sen said that both power and water have been stabilized, and the installation of the debit meters has gone well. "Everyone said the Ebeye loan couldn’t be implemented," he said.

"It takes a lot of cooperation from the RMI government and Kwajalein leadership, but together we’ve been able to deliver."

On the new hospital, Sen said it has been a little slow mainly because ADB picked up an unfinished project, the first time in ADB history for the bank to do this. He indicated that each step of working on the hospital has turned up new problems that have to be addressed.

His overall assessment of the project: "Very good."
