RADIO FIJI SUSPENDS CHURCH BROADCASTS

SUVA, Fiji Islands (December 27, 2000 - The Fiji Times/PINA Nius Online)---The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation has placed an indefinite suspension on the airing of live religious broadcasts.

The decision come after a church minister bitterly criticized former President Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara and the chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs, Sitiveni Rabuka, during a recent live Radio Fiji broadcast.

The minister also has been suspended for six months by his church for making the broadcast remarks.
