PAPE‘ETE, French Polynesia (January 25, 2001 - PINA Nius Online)---More than 1,100 participants are expected to take part in French Polynesia’s biggest running event, the Tahiti Nui Marathon.

French Polynesia Sports and Youth Minister Reynald Temarii said the 13th edition of the event will take place on the island of Moorea on February 10th.

According to the organizing committee, this event "will promote one of the main sports disciplines in a unique environment. It will also help develop tourism."

Moorea's Temae beach area will be illuminated for the occasion.

Traditional sports demonstrations also will be presented for visitors during the marathon and Polynesian food will be available.
