AIR VANUATU FLIES BOEING 737 TO SANTO CEREMONIES

PORT VILA, Vanuatu (January 31. 2001 - Radio Vanuatu/PINA Nius Online)---Air Vanuatu's Boeing 737 made an inaugural flight from Port Vila to Santo's upgraded Pekoa Airport recently to participate in project handing over ceremonies.

The extension of the airport was funded by Agence Française de Development as part of efforts to open up Santo, the main island in the northern part of the country, to more visitors.

Radio Vanuatu's reporter in Luganville, Antoine Malsungai, said people from rural areas throughout the island traveled to the airport to witness the ceremony.
