NIUE’S FORMER PREMIER LUI CONSIDERING AGAIN ENTERING POLITICS

ALOFI, Niue (February 12, 2001- Radio Australia)---Niue's former Premier Frank Lui has confirmed that he has been asked by a number of people on the island to seek re-election to the Legislative Assembly.

The businessman, who was toppled from his village seat in a surprise vote two years ago, said he is seriously considering returning to politics.

He said he would have to talk it over with his family before making a firm commitment.

Lui became Premier of Niue in 1993, following the death of Premier Sir Robert Rex.

Lui spent 36 years in island politics, mostly in cabinet positions.
