ALOFI, Niue (March 7, 2001 -- Niue Economic Review/PINA Nius Online)---The dean of the former Lord Liverpool University, Canadian chiropractor Dr. Randy Beck, has departed Niue. It was the final chapter in a saga that resulted in civil court cases and disappointed students, local staff and businesses.

Dr. Beck and two of his colleagues, who were the staff members employed by the original investors, took over after the government suddenly revoked the university’s licenses and lease agreements with U.S. Dr. Huyanki Chris Hong and his foreign investors.

Dr. Hong said he provided sufficient funding to maintain the university and was unable to understand why the government had prevented a team of auditors from coming to Niue to investigate claims of mismanagement.

After new management infighting, one of Beck's colleagues withdrew his cash investment and the institution was unable to continue.
