POLICE REPORT SHARP DROP IN PORT MORESBY CRIME

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (March 8, 2001 - Post-Courier/PINA Nius Online)---Police Commander Joseph Morehari said major crime in the capital, Port Moresby, has dropped dramatically in the past few weeks.

Mr. Morehari said police are now conducting special operations in dealing with unsolved cases, especially with the theft of motor vehicles in the city.

Mr. Morehari said there has been a considerable drop in major crimes such as murder and armed robbery.
