At 7:00 p.m., the aircraft carrying the President of the People’s Republic of China, Jiang Zemin, took off from Tahiti-Faa‘a International Airport, on its way to Santiago de Chile.

The Chinese President was relaxed. It was indeed an opportunity for the representatives of the Chinese community to give a moving ceremony by applauding President Jiang Zemin before he stepped onto the plane.

He responded to that unexpected and touching sign by himself applauding the local Chinese community, thanking them for their warm greeting.

President Zemin also told President Flosse that he enjoyed his short visit in Tahiti, which gave him the time to rest. He also expressed his deep and grateful thanks for the warm welcome that was given to him and his delegation.

The President of the People’s Republic of China will start his 15-days official visit in South America with Chile , where he will stay three days.

Visits to more than six countries are scheduled on the official program.
