HONIARA, Solomon Islands (April 17, 2001 - Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation/PINA Nius Online)---The Solomon Islands plans to develop two more oil palm projects in the country in addition to its operation on Guadalcanal.

Funds have been allocated in this year's development budget for feasibility studies on establishing the Auluta Palm oil project in Malaita Province and another on Vangunu Island in Western Province.

Meanwhile, there have been consultations between the Commonwealth Development Corporation and landowners for the re-opening of the Solomon Islands Plantation Limited oil palm plantations on Guadalcanal.

That plantation was closed during the two years of Guadalcanal-Malaita ethnic conflict.
