TWO ROAD DEATHS IN FRENCH POLYNESIA

PAPEETE, French Polynesia (May 14, 2001 – Tahitipresse)---It was another terrible weekend on the roads of French Polynesia.

Two accidents involving speed or alcohol left two people dead.

Friday evening, on the island of Moorea (Windward Islands), a 19-year-old motorcyclist, collided with a car. He died in Moorea's hospital a short while later. He was not wearing a protective helmet.

Saturday morning, at 5:30 a.m., in the city of Papara, Tahiti, a 4x4 ran into a car. The driver of the car was seriously wounded and one passenger was killed.

The alcohol test on the driver of the 4x4 was positive.

It was in the same city of Papara that seven persons died in a collision between two cars February 11th.
