SUVA, Fiji Islands (June 26, 2001 - FM96/PINA Nius Online)---The Fiji Visitors Bureau is planning to take legal action against an American website which is promoting Fiji as a sex destination.

Chief Executive Sitiveni Yaqona says the site has been checked out by bureau officials in Los Angeles, who have determined that the site is using sex to lure people to buy albums of unknown musicians.

The site claims the artists are from Fiji and features photos of nude women, saying they are from Fiji, a country with "heaps" of nude women.

Yaqona says the bureau may face some problems to prohibit the use of the name Fiji by the website because he understands this cannot be copyrighted.

Fiji police have also started investigating the contents of the website to determine if anyone from Fiji is connected with the site. The officers want to establish if some of the pictures shown were taken in Fiji.

The Fiji Women's Crisis Center says the site, Fiji Recordings, has added images of nude women as a ploy to encourage more hits to the site. The center's Edwina Kotoisuva says the site is degrading to all women.
