JAKARTA, Indonesia (July 30, 2001 – Joyo Indonesian News/Satunet/TAPOL)---It is hoped the Megawati-Hamzah Haz administration will provide more Irian Jayan locals with the opportunity to hold positions in the Indonesian cabinet.

Irian Jaya DPRD Provincial House of Representatives Deputy Chair Jhon Ibo made this statement on Monday, July 30.

"Irian Jaya has many suitable candidates whom the president could use in her administration's cabinet," he said, as cited by Antara in Jayapura.

He said the best candidates from Irian Jaya include Theo Waimuri (currently Indonesian ambassador to Namibia), Bas Suebu (Indonesian ambassador to Mexico) and Freddy Numbery (Indonesian ambassador to Italy).

Others include members already in the MPR/DPR People's Consultative Assembly/House of Representatives.

It is hoped that at least one of them gains a position in the cabinet.

Jhon Ibo, also the Irian Jaya Golkar Chair, said he also hopes the two, Megawati-Hamzah Haz, can help the country overcome its current economic crisis.
