SUVA, Fiji Islands (August 12, 2001 - Daily Post/FijiLive/PINA Nius Online)---A technical problem over the appointment of France's ambassador to Fiji and a number of other Pacific states, Jean Pierre Vidon, has resulted in his being called back to France.

The recall came after Mr. Vidon's predecessor in Suva, Michel Jolivet, mounted a successful challenge against the way he had been recalled by France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Vidon had succeeded Mr. Jolivet last year.

The French Embassy in Suva is remaining silent on the matter.
