CONSTRUCTION OF JAPANESE ROCKET TRACKING STATION IN PALAU TO BEGIN

KOROR, Palau (August 16, 2001 - Palau Horizon/PINA Nius Online)---The construction of a Japan National Space Development Agency downrange rocket tracking station in Palau will soon begin.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the station was held on Ngerebesang Island, near the capital of Koror.

The Japanese agency said the station would play an important role in tracking rocket launches and in facilitating associated communications.
