MARSHALL ISLANDS’ COMPACT NEGOTIATION COMMISSION NAMED

MAJURO, Marshall Islands (August 24, 2001 – Marshall Islands Journal)---President Kessai Note has named the Compact Negotiation Commission (to negotiate with the United States for renewed development assistance), along with a Compact Advisory Committee.

The Compact negotiating team is made up of six people, headed by Foreign Minister Gerald Zackios. The other members are Finance Minister Mike Konelios, Education Minister Wilfred I. Kendall, Health Minister Alvin Jacklick, Iroij Mike Kabua and Senator Ataji Balos.

The negotiating commission is to include the following people on an as-needed basis: Senator Tamaki Juda, Senator Ismael John, Senator Abacca Anjain-Maddison, Senator Hiroshi Yamamura, Earl Gilmore, the Compact office, RMI Washington Embassy and EPPSO.

The Compact Advisory Committee is headed by Chief Secretary Phillip Kabua and will include: Iroij Anjua Loeak, Iroij Rimius Hermios, Senators Jiba Kabua, Maynard Alfred, and Heikena Anni, Secretaries Saeko Shoniber, Donald Capelle, Biram Stege, Fred Muller, Lenest Lanki, Jorelik Tibon, Fred deBrum, Attorney General Atbi Riklon, CMI President Alfred Capelle, Kwajalein Atoll Development Authority Director Jeban Riklon, Businessmen Alex Bing, Jerry Kramer, Charles Domnick and Francis Reimers, and non-governmental organization representatives Carmen Bigler and Alson Kelen.
