COUNTRIES REGARDING TERRORIST ATTACKS IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

In the wake of the horrific terrorist attacks in the United States of America on 11 September 2001, the Leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum member countries jointly wish to express their deepest sympathies to all victims and their families.

The Leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum member countries further express their condolences to the Government and people of the United States of America and to the Governments and peoples around the world who have lost citizens in the attack.

The Leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum recognize the attacks as not only against the United States of America, but against humanity and common decency.

Forum members, recalling their decision in 1998 collectively condemning international terrorism and reaffirming their support for international cooperation aimed at its eradication, are committed to do everything in their power to assist in bringing those responsible for this heinous act and all other acts of international terrorism to justice.

To this end, Leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum pledge their moral and political support to the fight against international terrorism.

The Pacific Islands Forum members are Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
