SOLOMONS POLICE HOLD MAN OVER MILITIA COMMANDER KILLING

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (October 1, 2001 - Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation/PINA Nius Online)---Solomon Islands police are holding a special police constable in connection with the killing of Selwyn Saki, one of the commanders of the former Isatabu Freedom Movement militia.

Mr. Saki was abducted last month and his mutilated body later was found near the capital, Honiara.

The killing caused the suspension of a review of the Townsville Peace Agreement, which is designed to end Guadalcanal-Malaita ethnic tension.
