NUKU’ALOFA, Tonga (November 1, 2001 - PIDP/CPIS)---Germany’s Ambassador-at-large for the United Nations, Klaus-Peter Klaiber, was in the Kingdom last week to lobby for support in electing German candidates to several U.N. committees and commissions.

As a member of the world body, the Kingdom’s affirmative votes would assist Germany’s aspirations within the United Nations.

During his visit, Mr. Klaiber met with high-ranking government officials.

He later continued on to Samoa as part of his Pacific vote-getting mission.
