PARIS, France (November 19, 2001 – Tahitipresse)---One hundred forty delegates from French Polynesia are attending the 84th Mayors' Congress in Paris.

During a meeting devoted to overseas issues today, Gaston Tong Sang, Mayor of Bora Bora (Leeward islands) and head of the French Polynesia delegation, called upon France to resolve airline issues pertaining to French Polynesia.

"France must help local initiatives," he said. "I mentioned French Polynesia and its airline Air Tahiti Nui.

"We asked for slots in Paris and France's response has not been clear at all so far. I hope Air Tahiti Nui will finally get the landing rights in Paris.

"This situation is really strange since French officials ask us at the same time to promote tourism in French Polynesia," he said.
