AMERICAN SAMOA ARMY RESERVE TO BE MOBILIZED IN FEBRUARY

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (December 19, 2001 – Radio Australia)---The American Samoa Army Reserve will be activated early next year.

The announcement was made by the Commander of the Pacific Army reserves, Brigadier General Robert Lee, at a family readiness meeting of reservists and their spouses at the territory's Maliu Mai Beach Resort.

Major Peleti Mauga, Commander of the American Samoa Army Reserve, said two companies will be mobilized to Hawai‘i sometime in February.

Their deployment orders are for one year.

About 200 of the close to 400 reservists in the American Samoa Army Reserve will be activated when Bravo and Charlie companies, both infantry divisions, are deployed.
